Project Managers

Candidates Sought:  Cabrera Services, Inc. seeks Project Managers with three to five years of direct project management experience.  Positions are available in our Albuquerque, NM office.

Description: Successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project performance, including but not limited to:

• Overall direction for the successful execution of all project level activities
• On-time delivery of project deliverables
• Project planning
• Personnel productivity
• Technical quality
• Contract and subcontract implementation
• Budget control

Position requires familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, FUSRAP, and MARSSIM.   Must be able to support various technical aspects of projects; therefore, candidate should be prepared to provide samples of prior technical writing.

Requirements: Experience working on federally-funded programs is required; experience with cost reimbursable and time and materials projects is desirable.  BS in related field required.  Professional certification a plus.  Field experience beneficial.  Experience managing projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (any District) and/or the Air Force desired.  Project related travel to support the client and field efforts will be required.

Senior Health Physicist / Radiological Engineer

Candidate Sought:  Cabrera Services, Inc. seeks a Sr. Health Physicist with 6 to 12 years experience for our Baltimore, MD and Sacramento, CA offices.  Specific Experience in Decommissioning Health Physics or Environmental Site Closure is preferred. 

Description: Qualified candidates will analyze and develop solutions to a wide variety of technical and complex problems for a variety of federal and commercial clients.  Responsibilities will include:

• Development and implementation of technically-defensible project design criteria
• Preparation and Review of radiological and/or environmental planning documentation
• Providing technical support to field teams performing site investigation and remediation tasks at radiological and hazardous waste sites
• Ensuring field procedures and sampling conforms to client and company-specified QA/QC protocols and requirements.   

Candidate should be prepared to provide samples of prior technical writing.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university mandatory.  Master’s degree preferred.  CHP and/or PE certification desired.  Knowledge of radiological and environmental regulations, programs, policies and procedures within his or her area of responsibility is required.  A working knowledge of site investigation and closure protocols using the MARSSIM manual at both CERCLA and US NRC licensed sites is a must.  Project-related travel to client sites and locations will be required.

Remediation Site Manager – Baltimore, MD

Candidate Sought:  Cabrera Services, Inc. seeks an experienced Remediation Site Manager to be based in our Baltimore, Maryland office.

Description:  The successful candidate will lead on-site remediation of radioactive and chemically-contaminated hazardous waste sites.  Responsibilities will incorporate the following:

• Manage all aspects of project activities under the direction of both project engineers and cognizant project management
• Serve as a liaison between project management and field staff
• Alert of management any unusual work, quality, or safety issue that may arise in the field
• Ensure such issues are addressed in a timely manner
• Prepare work schedules
• Monitor project progress for tasks under his or her direction
• Ensure procedural and regulatory compliance
• Oversee relevant work

Requirements:  The successful candidate will travel for extended periods and will be deployed for field work commitments year-round, with a majority of projects in the Eastern and Midwestern U.S.  Applicants must also have experience with implementation of civil-oriented remediation methods and techniques for contaminated sites, including:

• Earthwork for environmental remediation
• Excavation (including benching, shoring, and bracing), cutoff walls, and landfill caps/covers
• Screen plant operation, solidification/stabilization, and material handling
• Cofferdam design, excavation dewatering, and treatment of dewatering effluents
• Soil and groundwater treatment
• Asbestos and lead-based paint abatement
• Building decontamination, deconstruction, and demolition
• UST and hazardous materials removal
• Waste handling, packaging, transport, and off-site disposal
• Wide variety of on-site (in-situ and ex-situ) treatment of contaminated soil and groundwater
• Embankment, wetlands, and site restoration
• Environmental monitoring to verify compliance of cleanup operations with wastewater and air quality requirements
• Experience in construction of small buildings to support remedial operations is desirable

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will have:

• 10 to 20 years experience of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Construction Management desired
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word
• Familiarity with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and related documents
• Familiarity with applicable technical, scientific, and legal terms and concepts. 
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Experience with radiological and MEC remediation projects desired
• Prior experience as an office manager for a technical consulting organization preferred
• No physical restrictions preventing him or her from sitting at a desk (i.e., operating a computer or typewriter/using a telephone or writing and analyzing data and/or reports)
• No physical restrictions preventing him or her from walking or standing within the office for the operation of other office equipment and for meetings
